This page covers the safety equipment in the house, Florida’s fishing and boating rules, and the laws that protect local wildlife. Please read it before you arrive.

Emergency Equipment and Safety
- Fire ExtinguishersThere are 3 fire extinguishers in the house: in the laundry room, in the hallway and next to the elevator.
- First Aid KitsA large emergency first aid kit is near the pool, for major medical situations only. For minor injuries and everyday needs, there are smaller first aid kits in each upstairs bathroom cabinet.
- Water Rescue EquipmentLife rings and rescue hooks are near the pool and on the dock in case someone falls in or is struggling in the water. Please use them only in a real emergency. Children must be supervised at all times around the pool, beach and dock.
- Evacuation RoutesEvacuation signs and routes are posted in each of the four main bedrooms and in the kitchen.
When you arrive, please take a minute to find the safety equipment and look over the evacuation routes.

Fishing and Boating Regulations
If you plan to fish from the dock or take a boat out, it helps to know Florida’s fishing and boating rules. The links below cover size and bag limits, seasons, licenses and boating safety equipment.

Local Wildlife and Manatee Protection
Manatees and seabirds such as pelicans are often near the dock and the pool. Please enjoy them from a distance and follow the rules below.
Manatees
Manatees are protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act and the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act. It’s illegal to feed, harass or disturb them in any way, including touching, chasing or separating them from their group. Boaters must go at idle speed in marked manatee zones and watch carefully in shallow water, where manatees often feed and rest. Violations can bring large fines.
Seabirds
Feeding seabirds, including pelicans, is against Florida law (F.A.C. 68A-4.001). Birds that are fed start hanging around people and are more likely to get hurt by fishing line and hooks. Please put fish scraps in the trash.
